The Cobras way..
…and the power of play!
What is the Cobras Way?
A training curriculum (see example below) that consists of 12 core individual concepts, delivered through practice, challenges and small sided games. The training program also consists of numerous ‘Match play’ weeks where we play games in the format that the team plays in for their fixtures. This allows us a chance to support players on wider team concepts.
Soon, we will also be providing our players with the chance to access videos to guide any practice they do at home.
How we deliver it?
All sessions follow the below structure:
0-20 mins - Arrival activity
20-40 mins - A focus on a specific concept
40-60 mins - Small sided games
This structure allows us to give players as many attempts as possible at the particular concept we are focusing on in a given session. Equally we can strategically group players to ensure they receive the right level of challenge.
Cobras Curriculum
Our coaches follow a Cobras curriculum. This has been created to ensure players are taught about the key concepts of the game. We have opted for a spiral curriculum, that focuses on 12 key concepts which are revisited throughout the year to build upon what has previously been taught. However, to support players that have joined our club mid-season, we constantly scaffold tasks to support those who may have missed the previous sessions that a particular topic was taught.
